This course focuses on the teachings of the Old Testament prophets as they relate to the last years of the Divided Kingdom, God’s eternal promises to the Jews, and the coming of His Messiah. With the exception of Isaiah and Jeremiah, all the other Old Testament prophets will be studied in chronological order. We will hear them sound God’s warnings and issue His instructions before and after the fall of Israel at the hands of Assyria and during the exile and return of Judah from her captivity in Babylon. The first half of class time will be a lecture discussing the text and the second half of class will consist of discussion groups. This format guarantees that, as we go through this in a structured way, every class session will be creatively different.
